About Founder and Her Purpose
Hello Zuncia Family,
Today’s post is about Sudesh Khatri, Founder of ‘The Zuncia’ this newsletter and zuncia.com
“What you seek is seeking you”- Rumi
Hey everyone, this is Sudesh. I am Ph.D in biotechnology and integrative nutrition health coach. My dream is to help people live healthy and young till old age. Today I am sharing my story and my purpose with you all.
Background:
I was born in a small village of Haryana in India. My family was primarily involved in agriculture while my father was a science teacher. I grew up in a big joint family with 10 siblings including me with my parent, uncle - aunt and our grandparents. It was so much fun and I missed that a lot now when we all are living in different places. While at that time, it didn’t look fun and we had a mess due to so many kids. I studied in Government funded village schools, College and Universities. As my family was involved in agriculture, we had our farm’s grown wheat & other grains, vegetables, milk and home cooked meals as a typical farm family. When we were young adult, we used to go to our farm to help our family during wheat harvesting or any other significant activity at our farm.
I am sharing this part of my background because I consider it plays a huge role in building my body’s strong immune system. These days things are different for most of the kids due to technology advancement and aren’t exposed to this kind of environment.
After my marriage at age of 25, I started my Ph.D and got my postdoctoral fellowship at University of Massachusetts (UMass) Amherst as a 30 years old. It was a big achievement for a person from a small village and I came to the US first time in 2008. I worked on many research projects for more than 5 years at UMass and published 14 publications and 1 patent issued by USPTO. My daughter was born during that time and then we decided to move back to India when my daughter was just 6 months old. We recently came back to the US after 10 years in India and it was the first time in the US for my daughter who is 11 years old now.
Now I am 46 years old without any kind of health problems. I don’t take any medication and don’t have high blood glucose, high BP and any joint or other kind of pain in my body. My goal is to stay active, healthy and young till last day of my life on earth, hopefully till late 90s.
However around the age of 40, I hit rock bottom in terms of emotional breakdown due to personal reasons. My stress level was so bad that my teeth started breaking down and this happens when you are under high chronic stress condition. But the reason I survived during that time was due to my daughter & family support ans well ans my strong mental level.
Do you know why I suffered this midlife crisis because I was not living my life in alignment with my life’s purpose. I was living according to other people’s standard and hit rock bottom when my body and mind couldn’t not bear anymore and everything started falling apart. And I found out in my research that most of the people follow the same pattern that I followed. If we live our lives in alignment with our life’s purpose, we’ll be in love of our life and this midlife crisis will not happen.
Now I ask this question to myself everyday: Did I work towards the purpose of my life today? If answer came no, I prioritise my activities accordingly.
And during this crisis time, I started reading about all kind of books such as self-help, mindset, lifestyle and nutrition related and many more. I love reading and keep my mind open to read books in diverse areas and not just my specific field which was the case earlier when I was just reading only research papers.
In 2023, I completed integrative nutrition health coach diploma to gain more insight about the role of lifestyle and nutrition in prevention and managing of metabolic health and living healthy life. I am a strong believer in prevention. I found that your mind plays even a bigger role than other factors in your health and other parts of your life.
My Purpose:
Everyone knows how expensive healthcare in the current environment. And I found out in my life and by coaching others that if starting taking care of health earlier in life, mostly in early 30s, it pays big in long term.
My goal to start ‘The Zuncia’ newsletter is share top resources and scientific insights to educate people for living healthy lives. There is so much information available that confuses people what to believe and what not.
As a health coach, I am also seeing how expensive these lifestyle and nutrition experts are that it’s hard to afford them for a common middle class person. Earlier I thought to charge a small amount for this newsletter but my intuition guided me to share the knowledge FREE. It is always my dream to positively impact people’s lives.
This newsletter will be more beneficial to you if you’ll have growth mindset and open to all possibilities.
Hope the content in our newsletter will educate you to make better decisions for your overall well-being. Thank you.
With much love,
Sudesh
