How Patrick Theut reversed his CAC score of 337 to Zero

Hello Zuncia Family,

I came across a fascinating story of Patrick J. Theut who reversed his Coronary Artery Calcium (CAC) score from 337 to zero. As he told the story, he said he was healthy and just took CAC test for fun. However it turned out be a problem, the left main artery of his heart was calcified from the wall of the heart to the branch of the Circumflex and LAD and calcium score of 337.

In November 2002, He went for the test and found about his coronary artery problem. He learned from Cardiologist that surgery would cost $250k and can’t be covered by insurance as it would be considered elective procedure. Then he began his journey of literature search and spent over 15,000 hrs to search data.

He is a biochemist and studied the peer-reviewed scientific literature and reversed his CAC score to Zero in few years. But it wasn’t a smooth ride and he had bumps along the way. He is in 67 years old now and perfectly fine.

Here are the observations he made after reading scientific literature:

2002-2005

  1. Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) increases from equator to the north, then drops off, it has to be Vitamin D related.

  2. Excercise boosts HDL but to get a significant bump, one need to excercise to 90% of maximum heart rate for about an hour every 3 days.

  3. HDL and LDL last about 3 days in your system.

  4. Cheap carbs are bad and fat is good. He considers Coconut, Macdemia nut, Butter, Lard, Olive oil, Fish Oil and Almond oil

  5. CAD follows bone formation kinetics- has to be Vitamin D related.

  6. CAD only happens typically after significant hormonal changes- in post-menopausal women and men reaching andropause. So, hormones play a role.

  7. CAD is stimulated by insulin. So cut out cheap carbs as they overstimulate your insulin levels. High fat and high protein is way to go.

  8. CAD is stimulated by the wrong oils. He recommended Olive, Fish, Almond, Butter and MacNut. The rest are bad and can increase APO-B, a small dense LdLs. He made a note: the only cholesterol test worth anything is one’s particle size.

  9. Early in 2003, he stated that CAD appears to be a gut problem but at that time he couldn’t understand the significance of statement as there was not enough data. He validated it years later.

  10. He said thyroid matters and keep Free T3 as high as possible (3.5 to 5.0) but not over 5.5 and drive your TSH to as low as possible.

  11. Salt is good and only bad if you have kidney issues.

  12. Four shots of Alcohol is good to bump up HDL if you keep up your B vitamins.

  13. Magnesium and Selenium are critical as this relates to good electrical signals, relaxed arteries and enzyme function. Manganese is also important but you can get that by eating apple. Don’t take it as a supplement.

  14. The ratio of copper to Zinc (15:1) is equally critical as they also relate to enzymes and killing of viruses and bacteria.

  15. Fish oil matters, but only works if taken with milk or meal with a fat in it. Taking fish oil drops your Tri-G by about 50% if taken with milk or meal with fat. But if you take without them, it’s not effective. He experimented with it for over 1 week.

  16. Get your body fat to below 15% if a male and 20% if female.

  17. Teens don’t have CAD, very significant given the junk food ingested.

  18. Infants have CAD untill about when their hormonal system kicks in.

  19. HDL over 60 is good, Tags under 60 is good.

  20. CAD is a surface chemistry problem. In this case, LDL and HDL carry vitamins K, Co-enzyme Q10 and E. Vitamin D and A have their own carrier proteins.

  21. He took him 3 years to get the system back on track.

  22. Learned how to heart rate train

  23. Keep your Vitamin C, Lysine and Citrulline high. Citruline is a pituitary stimulator.

2005 to 2010

  1. High dose of Vitamin C cause diarrhoea.

  2. He took MMR vaccine and that made him type 2 diabetic and his calcium score skyrocketed at high rate.

  3. He took chelated Vanadium to treat his diabetes for 3 years. This allowed his pancreas to regenerate itself and his insulin was fine ( Vanadium was used to treat diabetics earlier before the invention of insulin according to him).

  4. He tried everything but nothing improved. By 2010 , he was near to gave up. However took a week off and devoted last 1 try to figure out what he missed.

  5. By entering a keyword search wrong, he found literature associated with Vitamin K. He was taking Vitamin K a fraction of dosage he needed.

  6. During 115+ hours research data mining, he found some good articles on the surface chemistry of LDL and HDL. He believed that his hut bacteria were making enough vitamins K before taking vaccine to clean up his artery. He was eating a lot of sauerkraut and broccoli which are high in Vitamin K and they were making his gut bacteria happy. By accident, he was doing the right thing. He believed vaccination had wiped out his gut buddies which were making or extracting Vitamin K. He was doing blood work every few weeks to track everything and he could tell with his blood work reports.

July 2010- present

  1. Created a cardigan manifesto

  2. He first ordered Vitamin K1 and started to take it (10mg). His blood work started to slowly change

  3. Now he needed to get his hands on high amounts of Vitamin K and finally got MK-7 ( a form of vitamin K)

  4. By December 2010, he told his doctors what was he doing. He was taking 20 mg of Crestor at that time.

  5. Results were: take vitamin K and LDL and HDL lipid profiles profoundly change regardless of whether you are taking a statin.

  6. He dropped Crestor and as predicted, his LDL stabilised, his HDL stayed high and TG leveled out. Sins months later, his score finally regressed by 18%.

  7. He mentioned he had better luck with addition of MK-4 (another form of Vitamin K).

  8. He started going to Vitamin K conference and learned more.

  9. He observed Gut bacteria are critical in this process.

  10. MMP-2 and MMP-9 are bad and need to be reduce to zero. So he was taking Astaxanthin for it. Astaxanthin coats the leukocytes and neutrophils thus preventing the production of MMp-2 and 9.

  11. He observed your body will naturally put the LDL in 110 to 175 range if you keep off the bad oils and cheap carbs.

  12. The liver looks at Vitamin K and D levers and adjusts the amount of Vitamin A in proportion to your body, so eat your carrots. Beta carotene is far safer than takin Vitamin A.

  13. On carrot really take too much Vitamin D and K.

  14. If you take K-1, you will stop bruising .

  15. Stay away from high fructose tuff as it will cause liver fat .

  16. Stay way from artificial sweeteners.

  17. Coffee is good as well as tea . They both have antioxidants.

  18. The degree of caroboxylation is critical to know. The more vitamin K you take, more carboxylates you become. Take Vitamin K and get your carboxylation tested.

  19. He tested red his APOE (appolipoproteins) genotype tested. He suggested to get it tested.

  20. He suggested high dose B vitamins, Vitamin C, Vitamin K, magnesium.

  21. He found the ratio of Vitamin A to D to K is critical .

Conclusion

He stopped his progression and had regression.
